Empty In Babylon: Former Food Mart

A sign of the times seems to be the empty retail locations throughout many towns and villages on Long Island, and Babylon Village is no stranger to having a few here and there.

During the next few months, Babylon Village Patch is going to feature some of those storefronts and ask you what you’d like to see move in.

The previous storefront at 94 Deer Park Avenue was a mini convenience store and has been vacant for some time now. The store offered household items, food, and a lot more, but faced competition from other similar stores around the village.

The space was almost taken over by restaurant chain BurgerFi, but their plans were rejected by the village board citing concerns about a lack of parking for the expected crowds headed to the eatery.

The space, currently represented by Coldwell Bakers, is located right between Main Street and the Long Island Rail Road station, has a ton of space and great nearby retail neighbors.

What would you like to see the space become? Another convenience store? A restaurant? A book store? What other kind of storefront do you think would be perfect here? Tell us in the comments!
