Empty In W. Babylon: Former Car Dealership

L&B Lincoln-Mercury has been closed in West Babylon for several years now.

The former L&B Lincoln-Mercury Car Dealership has been empty for many years, leaving behind a wide open parking lot, expansive showroom and a completely vacant corner facing the bustling Pathmark shopping center.

The property, located at 510-520 West Montauk Highway, saw its last owners leave over a year ago to head for a new property in Bay Shore, taking with it one of the many car dealers that used to line the area in West Babylon.

The property now appears to be used mostly for storage by unknown people, with used cars appearing on the property every so often behind a rented fence lining the property. The 27,000 square foot building is still in good shape and has a ton of space – 174,000+ square feet – of land.

Rumors recently resurfaced about the property concerning interest from supermarket chain Trader Joe’s, but representatives quickly shot down the idea noting Long Island would not see a new Joe’s for at least two years.

With a huge parking lot and already spacious building, this location could become many different kinds of stores – a supermarket, fitness club or even a large-scale preschool.
