Former Manager Stepping in to Re-Open Bayview Deli

Tom Pellicane, who ran the deli for eight years, is back to re-open the business.

Tom Pellicane likely figured once he left working and managing Bayview Deli in 1999 he wouldn't be back. He stayed in the business however, opening a deli in West Babylon called Bergen Point Deli which he owned for a decade and being involved in other South Shore deli establishments.

Now he finds himself back in Babylon with the opportunity to restart Bayview given the prior owner's short tenure in the business.

It's a happy move, he said, noting he's still friendly with customers from his earlier days.

"During those years I had come to know many of the residents and families and most are still living here. I have remained friendly with all of them ever since," he said while taking a quick break from extensive renovation work he's doing at the deli.

"My interests have always stayed in the town of Babylon and when the opportunity arose to obtain Bayview Deli I did not hesitate to take ownership," he told Patch in an email.

The new deli will be a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere, offering delicious homemade food made with the highest quality ingredients every day, said Pellicane. There'll be daily specials and a professional catering service.

"We will have new items daily from food choices to general merchandise. The deli will have so much to offer, one must come to see for themselves and they will be glad they did!," said Pellicane.

The deli's opening date is April 2.
