Girasole Salon Moves to New Larger Location

Nearly decade-old salon takes over former Sprint Premier Store location on Deer Park Avenue.

Girasole Salon, the hair salon that has been a part of Babylon Village since 2003, has moved from its former locale at 260 Deer Park Avenue to a larger space at 26 Deer Park Avenue, next to Positions Dance Studio.

The salon's owner, Sara Luthy, had been looking for a new storefront for Girasole for the last few years as the company continue to see more customers and, eventually, outgrew its former space.

"We just ran out of space," Luthy told Patch. "We were on top of each other in there and it was time to go."

The current space, now decked out with a beautiful hardwood floor and floral design on the walls, was formerly occupied by the Sprint Premier Store earlier this year. The cell phone retail store went suddenly out of business in July, leaving behind a cut-out awning and bare showroom.

The new storefront features multiple spots for hair styling, washing and more additions will be added as time goes on. And the best part for the stylists of Girasole? It's roomy.

"We were looking for the right size place," said Luthy, who found herself in a Goldilocks situation of storefronts being too large or too small for the salon. "We found this and within a week we were signing the papers for it."

The salon officially reopened its doors on October 24th, but a planned Grand Opening for later in the month had to be postponed due to the wrath of Hurricane Sandy on the village.

Luthy said she expects to hold an official grand opening ceremony after the holidays in January 2013.
