GNC Moves, Davis Vision Opens in W. Babylon

Old storefronts fill old F.Y.E. and Blockbuster locations at Great South Bay Shopping Center.

The Great South Bay Shopping Center has finished filling up the old F.Y.E./Blockbuster retail block with new stores as a new Davis Vision opened two weeks ago and GNC moved from across the parking lot.

Davis Vision announced it would be opening a new location in West Babylon under its "VisionWorks" moniker in early August. The company later decided to change the name to Davis Vision. After months of work, the storefront held a grand opening earlier this month.

GNC was the last store to make the move – and the only old business to join the fray. GNC has been located at the corner of the Montauk Highway exit closest to Park Avenue for over 20 years.

According to sources, GNC moved to a new location to make way for an incoming restaurant.

GNC is now located at 709 West Montauk Highway and Davis Vision is located at 703 West Montauk Highway.

The shopping center, owned by Mall Properties, Inc., began a rehabilitation with the introduction of new storefronts this past summer. WeightWatchers moved in to a portion of the old F.Y.E. space and was joined by Carter's in late August.
