Lavender & Lace Antiques Leaves Babylon Location

Antique store will head to internet and trade shows for sales.

Lavender & Lace Antiques, Babylon Village's antique shop on the main stretch of Deer Park Avenue, has left its location, closing its doors for the final time on December 30th, 2012.

The antique shop had been a part of the business district for four years, but business had slowed for store owner Barbara Schweitzer. She told Patch she would be taking the store to the web in search of better sales numbers after four years in business in the village.

"Lavender & Lace Antique Shop has closed it doors today," read a December 30th post on the store's Facebook page. "You will be able to shop online at Craigslist, eBay and Etsy and at antique shows. Information will be posted early February 2013 with additional details."

The antique shop formally announced it would be closing back in October.

The store was a bit of a growing trend of antique shops within the village, including the thriftique store Deja Vu on Main and Shabby to Chic Antiques joining the area in the last few years.

While the physical storefront is gone, Schweitzer has taken the store to the web as expected. Interested customers can find items at the Lavender & Lace website and receive updates from both Facebook and by email at antiques@lavenderandlaceonline.com.
