New Business Spotlight: La Famiglia Joins Restaurant Row

Italian family-style eatery is the newest dining option among many in the village.

Babylon Village now boasts another new restaurant, with the third location of La Famiglia opening last week in the former location of La Bella Palermo.

The owners also operate locations in Smithtown and Plainview, and specialize in "family-style" dining, with each dish designed for sharing by two or three diners.

Rosario Cracchiolo, Jr., who owns the dining trio with his brothers and father, Rosario Sr.,  is excited to be feeding Babylon Village residents and local patrons.

"We thought we'd be successful here. It's a happening, hopping place."

The menu runs the gamut of home-style Italian classic comfort foods. Pasta entrees start at $15.95. Cracchiolo describes the cuisine as "northern Italian homestyle cooking with a southern Italian flair."

He said they are particularly proud of the new "big and beautiful" bar area.

The Cracchiolo family entry's into the restaurant business was inspired by the senior Cracchiolo, an Italian native who still operates as chef, and they are proud to still be family-owned and operated.

"We're doing a soft opening, " said Cracchiolo, "but we've already had over 20 tables come in today."

La Famiglia is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday.
