New Village Deli Aims to Open Doors in Mid March

The new food option will be located at the former Tradewinds Deli location.

The Village Deli of Babylon is gearing up to open March 15 in the former location of Tradewinds Deli on Main Street.

Owner and proprietor Jeff Matus is busy these days getting display cases in place, new paint on the walls and putting together the deli menu and food options.

It’s nothing new for Matus as he’s run and operated several delis on Long Island, including Frank’s Deli in West Babylon.

“I’ve had a lot of delis and this is my baby right now,” said Matus, who lives in Hauppauge and grew up in Dix Hills.

Store hours will be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The deli will offer homemade salads and chopped salads, but that’s all Matus was willing to give up in terms of food options.

“I want to surprise everyone,” he said with a smile.
