No BurgerFi for Babylon Village

Restaurant denied permission from village for traffic concerns, lack of waiters.

It looks as though Babylonians looking for a burger will have to look somewhere else – the village board unanimously denied the application of restaurant chain BurgerFi earlier this month.

The board denied the application for the restaurant, which was to be located at 94 Deer Park Avenue, because plans did not include waiters at the eatery and anticipated a huge spike in traffic around the already congested village.

Village law requires almost all restaurants to have a waiter service in their locations.

BurgerFi officials had previously proposed a "runner" service at the location where patrons would order at a counter and have their food and drink delivered to the tables.

BurgerFi, which operates multiple locations on Long Island in Oceanside and Westbury, is an all-natural burger chain with a recent spike in both growth and popularity.

The still-vacant location, 94 Deer Park Avenue, has been empty for over a year with BurgerFi being the most serious interest it has seen recently.
