Positions Dance Studio Headed to 2014 Sugar Bowl

Studio's dancers will perform during the half-time show at the New Orleans college playoff game.

Babylon Village is heading to the Allstate Sugar Bowl – at least, a part of it is.

Positions Dance Studio was selected to perform at the 2014 Sugar Bowl, the college postseason bowl game annually held at the Louisiana Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and will bring its dancers to the Big Easy next January.

"We originally got a phone call about doing the Orange Bowl, too," Positions owner Kelly Peckholdt told Patch. "Not only do the girls get to perform at halftime, but the girls have to go to a convention to be taught by master choreographers."

Peckholdt said the studio was in discussions with the bowl managers when she heard Travis Wall of So You Think You Can Dance fame would be attending – and possibly choreographing.

"He's one of my favorites," she said. "As soon as I heard he was going, I said we were in."

Wall, according to Peckholdt, will be choreographing the master classes and dance routines for the Positions dancers going.

"I wish I was under 21 years old so I could take part," Peckholdt said with a laugh.  "It's a very exciting opportunity for these girls – it's one of those 'once in a lifetime' kind of things."

The dancers will travel to Louisiana in late December for training as well as fun in New Orleans before the game before performing during and after the game.

The 80th annual Allstate Sugar Bowl is currently scheduled to take place January 2nd, 2014 at 12 p.m. Last year, Louisiana beat Florida 33-23 in an exciting matchup.
