Sidewalk Sale Returning for More Weekends

The Chamber of Commerce and Village have teamed up for more sidewalk sales on the weekend, including this Saturday.

The village will allow businesses to display sales items on the sidewalk just as many did during the Spring Fling and Sidewalk Sale a few weeks ago, according to Babylon Chamber of Commerce President Patty Vorilas. Most of the businesses taking part are members of the Chamber.

"At the request of the Chamber board [the village has] allowed the Chamber merchants to put merchandise out on the sidewalks in front of their stores to stimulate traffic and sales throughout the village," she said.

The new sidewalk sales will begin over a two-week trial period starting tomorrow, June 16, and June 30, according to Vorilas, after which Mayor Scordino and the Board will speak with village merchants on the effects of the sidewalk sales.

If the next few weeks prove successful, Vorilas said more sidewalk sales could be in the future for Babylon Village. Vorilas credited the success of the Spring Fling Sidewalk Sale for helping give the Chamber this opportunity.

"This is a great opportunity to pick up something for your dad or grad," Vorilas said. "We encourage everyone to please come down and support your local merchants and remember to eat, shop and play in Babylon Village."

The sidewalk sale this Saturday begins at 9:00am and runs until 5:00pm. No rain dates were announced.
