The Lite Choice Remaining Closed Until Spring

Yogurt shop has not been open since before Hurricane Sandy hit the area in October.

The Lite Choice, the yogurt shop at the southwest corner of Deer Park Avenue and Main Street, will not reopen until Spring due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy on the owners' home.

The yogurt shop has not been open since before Hurricane Sandy struck Long Island and the Tri-State area on October 29th, according to AroundBabylon blogger and nearby neighbor Aaron Stein. While other portions of the Business District reopened in the days and weeks following Sandy, The Lite Choice has remained in the dark.

A sign was recently posted on the outside of the storefront's windows, noting Sandy's effects on the business owners and the intent to reopen the yogurt shop in Spring 2013.

The notice reads:

"Dear Valued Customers, Due to the hurricane (our house was flooded), we have decided to reopen in the Spring. Please visit Woodbury or Smithtown. They are open for the winter. Thank you! :)"

The business, formerly known as D'Lites when it opened in May 2011, recently changed its name earlier this year around May and became a part of The Lite Choice franchise. The Lite Choice offers low-calorie soft serve ice cream that can be customized with various flavors, coffee drinks, smoothies, and cakes.
