Top 5 Al Fresco Eateries: An Italian Vacation, for Lunch

Patch scouts out the best spots for outdoor dining around town.

#2: Gemelli Ristorante

Italy features some of the best al fresco dining in the world: world class cuisine on quaint cobblestone alleyways. While Babylon Village can't quite offer all the ambience of a Tuscan osteria, the patio tables at Gemelli Ristorante are ensconced behind greenery and architecture attractive enough to fool you into taking that very Italian three-hour lunch, with wine, of course.

The Northern Italian fare is a step up from the basic red sauce pizzeria menus but traditional enough to please picky relatives and safe eaters. A prix fixe offered Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights offers diners a choice of an antipasti or salad and an entree, with options hitting all the major notes of fish, ravioli of the day, steak, and chicken.

There are only a few tables and they tend to fill quickly. Come early for dinner or simply stay late: if you eat like a true Italian, you might be chatting and drinking in the dolce vita of summertime Babylon until dinnertime rolls around.
