Patch scouts out the best spots for outdoor dining around town.

Outdoor restaurant seating is somewhat rare in the village, but on a warm summer evening, nothing beats a fresh air bite.

Patch counts down the top 5 places to go for drinks and food with a view.

#4: The Hook

There's waterfront dining, and then there's dockside dining, and , the Babylon mainstay near the village pool, has been evolving into a destination for upscale American food in Babylon, and now wants to become a premier destination for sail-up dining.

Owner Joe Hubbard said there's a big push to appeal to boaters, who can tie up in front of the restaurant and dine on the patio, with a view of the Great South Bay, and within waving distance of boats returning to the inlets and canals.

Entrees, like braised short ribs and potato encrusted grouper start around $23. The restaurant is open every day for lunch at noon.

The Hook has about a half dozen berths, and of course the staid by comparison parking lot. An indoor dining room has views, and the al fresco tables have both views and fresh air.
