"We are excited to expand HRHCare’s primary care services to the residents of Amityville and the surrounding communities,” said Anne Kauffman Nolon, MPH, President and CEO of HRHCare.  “Suffolk County has done exemplary work providing affordable health services to the Amityville community, and we look forward to furthering their efforts by adding new programs and establishing a means to make health care more affordable to the community.”

Along with accepting most forms of insurance carriers as well as Medicare and Medicaid, HRHCare uses a sliding scale co-pay system based on income to make it more affordable for patients to receive necessary health care services.  According to Suffolk County officials, the transition to HRHCare and its sliding scale system is expected to lessen the copays to $15 to $35.  HRHCare also employs a multilingual staff, and will keep the facility open for extended evening and weekend hours for added patient convenience.

“Transitioning to HRHCare will allow residents in the Amityville area to receive access to improved affordable health care while saving Suffolk County taxpayers $4.5 million over the next five years,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.  “HRHCare shares Suffolk County’s mission of providing affordable health care to those most in need.  Importantly, the agreement will bolster federal benefits and state aid payments, provide federal coverage for malpractice cases and give the health center access to federal programs and give health center patients access to FQHC comprehensive model of primary care, behavioral health and dental all in a single facility.  We look forward to what is to come from HRHCare.”
