Nassau BOCES Barry Tech Recognizes Wearable Art Business Business for Commitment as Industry Advisory Partner

At their annual industry advisory recognition brunch yesterday, Nassau BOCES Barry Tech presented a certificate of recognition to Madona Cole-Lacy, Textile Artist/Designer of Wearable Art and owner of Madona Cole Originals of Bellmore. (www.madonacoleoriginals.com)
Ms. Cole-Lacy has been involved with Barry Tech for over 10 years, in the capacity of an advisor to their Textile and Fashion Technology Program. Over this time span she has made classroom visits to share tips and tricks of the fashion and textile designing business with students, conducted mini impromptu fashion shows, and answered related-questions the students may have. Madona Cole Originals has also hosted some of the most dedicated high school students as fashion interns - an opportunity Ms. Cole-Lacy takes quite seriously. "I know the value of on-the-job training, as a process I went through during my college years. I am able to draw from the positive as well as the negatives of my experience to formulate an all-round positive and meaningful experience for the students I work with", says Ms. Cole-Lacy.

Madona Cole-lacy is also the founder and CEO of the New York State registered non-profit, Your Time For Creative Empowerment, Inc. Through this organization, Ms. Cole-Lacy serves Long Island's youth and families by providing tools they can use as solutions to 21st Century life challenges and pitfalls. Your Time For Creative Empowerment, Inc is an off-shoot of Madona Cole Originals and Ms. Cole-Lacy's art-related social & enrichment program, My Time Has Come. Through My Time Has Come Program, Madona Cole-Lacy connects with schools, and community organizations as a workshop facilitator, Long Island teaching artist and a cultural enrichment facilitator. She prides herself as being a member of an elite group of educators who insisted on the importance of STEAM at the onset of STEM.
