So Long and Thank You from Your Babylon Village Patch Editor

Patch local editor says goodbye.

Hello readers, neighbors and friends,

It has been a true honor to serve as the local editor here in Babylon Village since May 2012, when I came here from a position at a weekly newspaper. As of this afternoon, I will be leaving Patch for a new opportunity – a reporting position at The New York Post.

While I'm excited to move to a news organization with such a history as The Post, I am sad to leave behind such a wonderful and welcoming community.

From covering the businesses up and down Deer Park Avenue and Main Street to hearing about the issues raised at local village board meetings, it has been wonderful getting to know every single one of you and the village.

I've had some wonderful memories here, forever on the web now in stories here on Patch including meeting music star Darius Rucker, watching two full seasons of Babylon Panthers football without seeing a single loss, seeing a referendum pass by less than ten votes and covering the occasional weather event – this past blizzard being a fitting end.

A new permanent editor will soon be at the helm for both Babylon Village and Lindenhurst, but until then you are welcome to send questions, comments, releases and lunch tips to community editor Ryan Bonner at ryan@patch.com. He's a part of a wonderful team filled with some of the most talented professional journalists I have ever known, and I'd like to publicly thank them for their help during my time here as well.

I will still be living in nearby Lindenhurst and, as I always had before joining Patch, frequently come to Babylon Village for dinners and nights out. I hope to bump into everyone and anyone again – keep an eye out for my trademark cap!

Thank you so much for embracing me as your editor by always reading, commenting and giving me the heads up on news in our neighborhood – Babylon Village is forever in my thoughts.

Best wishes and signing off,
Scott Moore
