Five Towns College presents THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK, telling the story of the first 50 years of American popular music.
The extraordinary vocal stars ranged from Al Jolson to Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra to Tony Bennett and more. The national venues were the vaudeville stage, Tin Pan Alley, the radio and record player, in the Heartland of America, Hollywood’s silver screen, and the Great White Way of the Broadway Stage. The treasure trove of songs is comprised of the very best from George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Hoagy Carmichael, Johnny Mercer, Jimmy Van Heusen, Lorenz Hart, Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, and many more brilliant songwriters.
THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK continues today with the tradition carried on by Michael Feinstein, Diana Krall, Harry Connick, Jr., Michael Bublé, John Pizzarelli, Ann Hampton Callaway, Rod Stewart, Carly Simon, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, Sting and Steve Tyrell, all notable interpreters of the Songbook throughout their careers.
Join us for a wonderful night of songs with The Five Towns Colleges Rising Stars who will touch, move and inspire you as Five Towns College continues its devotion to preserving and presenting THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK.
