Online Fundraiser to Help Local Family Left Homeless After Recent Fire

Crowdfunding campaign looks to raise $3,000 for family uprooted following fire.

An online fundraising campaign has been started to help at least one of the three families left homeless after a fire ripped apart their Lindenhurst home on Thursday afternoon.

The campaign, started on crowdfunding website Fundly, kicked off the day the fire ripped apart the three-story, three-family home on Thursday afternoon on East Hoffman Avenue.

Started by Mindy Reinstein, a relative of resident Tamilyn Christianson, the appeal is looking to raise upwards of $3,000 for the family, which includes Christianson's three sons.

As of Monday morning, the campaign had already raised over 57 percent of the goal from only 27 supporters.

Other donation events, including a few clothing drives, have also been taking place throughout the village.

The house fire at 29 East Hoffman Avenue is reportedly still under investigation.

The blaze started last Thursday, filling the three-story home with thick, black smoke early in the afternoon. A multiple fire department response battled the fire for well over two hours, losing the roof after flames buckled it mid-way through.
