Over $6K Raised for W. Babylon Teacher With Heart Condition

Teacher diagnosed with congestive heart failure seeking community's help.

An online fundraiser continues for a West Babylon teacher whose rare heart condition continues to affect him on a daily basis, having already raised over $6,000 to help him and his family through the costly medical bills.

The fundraiser for David Eisermann began on GoFundMe roughly six months ago in June, soon after his heart was attacked by a virus.

"I have had the great misfortune of having a virus attack my heart," Eisermann wrote on the fundraiser page. "This has left me going in and out of hospitals with a condition called CHF [congestive heart failure]... My heart has recovered some but not enough to feel comfortable."

The father of three was seeking help upwards of $20,000 to cover the costs of his visits to the hospital for stem cell therapy. As of December 4, the fundraiser had totaled $6,130.

"I can not even entertain the idea of not seeing them all grow up or not walk my daughters down the aisle on their wedding days," he wrote. "I am a coach and teacher and hope that stem cell therapy can not only prolong my life but improve the quality of it."

The fundraiser has gained 55 donations in the last five months.
