Soldier Ride Babylon Rolling Through This Friday

Rain-or-shine 21 mile bike ride will go through Town of Babylon this Friday.

The annual Wounded Warriors Project Solider Ride Babylon will take place this Friday as hundreds ride their bicycles through the Town of Babylon on a 21+ mile trek.

Bike-riders and soldiers alike will take part in the long bike ride around the Town of Babylon, which kicks off at Babylon Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. on July 19. The ride is a part of a four-day cycling opportunity in the New York City metro area.

The ride helps raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, which in turn uses funds to help returning, wounded soldiers.

The ride, according to the Wounded Warrior Project, helps soldiers and other riders "to overcome physical, mental, or emotional wounds."

The course for this year's event winds from Amityville to West Islip. The ride kicks off at Babylon Town Hall in Lindenhurst and turns south on Wellwood Avenue. The course then heads west on Hoffman Avenue in Lindenhurst and continues all the way to Route 110 in Amityville, where the ride turns south again to Merrick Road/Montauk Highway.

Riders continue eastbound to Lindenhurst and head north up Wellwood Avenue again to Hoffman Avenue where they head east, until Little East Neck Road in Babylon Village. The course then heads back to Montauk Highway, through Babylon Village and West Islip, before hitting the Robert Moses Causeway and the Ocean Parkway to end at the finish line of Overlook Beach.

If you are interested in taking part in the long trek, check out the Babylon Soldier Ride page for more information.
