Girl Scout Troop 283 Earns Bronze Awards

Girls given highest award at their level of scouting for helping out area seniors.

The young ladies from Girl Scout Troop 283 in Babylon Village have earned the Bronze Award, the highest honor available for scouts at their level.

The scouts, led by troop leaders Ruth Kolb-Levins and Anne Gillard Morrow, earned their award for a project called "Loving Seniors."

Among their many acts of kindness involved with the project, the troop prepared and baked food and desserts for seniors, assisted them with making holiday decorations, playing bingo and even performed a musical concert for the area's elders.

A ceremony was recently held to honor the girls for their hard work and kindness towards our area's seniors. Among the attendees were Babylon Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Babylon Mayor Ralph Scordino, Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone, Suffolk County Legislature Wayne Horsley, Concilman Thomas Donnelly, Councilman Antonio Martinez and Assemblyman Joseph Saladino.
