W. Babylon Boy Scout Earns Eagle Rank

Eagle Scout dedicated his project to a recently deceased fellow scout.

A West Babylon Boy Scout was recently honored by Babylon Town elected officials for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.

Jeffrey Allen Lerman, a Boy Scout with Troop 104, recently achieved the top rank in the Boy Scouts of America by completing his Eagle Project at nearby Venetian Shores.

Lerman's project consisted of designing and constructing a garden at the park in memory of a fellow Eagle Scout who had recently passed away. The new garden consists of a raised bed enclosed by a brick wall, a sign of remembrance and an eagle statue.

Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer along with Councilpersons Tony Martinez and Jacqueline Gordon were on hand at the Babylon Village American Legion Post 94 to congratulate the new Eagle Scout.

The town officials also presented Lerman with a town proclamation recognizing his achievement.
