West Babylon Schools' Toy Drive A Success

Children help brighten Christmas season for less fortunate peers in the community.

Schools in the West Babylon School District hosted a toy drive throughout the past month to benefit the John Theissen Children's Foundation.

Many of the schools' toy drives were organized by the student council members, who decorated and hung advertisement posters in their hallways.

“The children who get these toys are in the hospital and have to deal with the challenges that go with that, so it is nice to try and spread some joy to them at Christmas,” said Jordyn Hickey, the student council president at Forest Avenue Elementary School.

"There is always a wonderful turnout during this annual event,” said Forest Avenue student council adviser Timothy Kahler. “It’s terrific to see the students come together to help those less fortunate."
