Village Tree Lighting Set for This Sunday

Annual tree lighting ceremony expected to cap off village's big holiday weekend.

The Village of Babylon will be holding its annual holiday tree lighting at Argyle Lake Park this Sunday.

The event, which includes an appearance by Santa Claus himself, will get underway at around 4 p.m. on Sunday at the tall Christmas tree near the southeast corner of the park.

The annual event caps off what looks to be a merry weekend in the village, with Friday night's Old Fashioned Village Christmas event on Deer Park Avenue starting off the season with cheer.

Last year's event included a chorus of local children singing holiday classics, Santa arriving in style and hot cocoa provided by local girl scouts.

Mayor Ralph Scordino is expected to be on hand to help throw the switch on the tree to get the Christmas season underway in Babylon.

All residents are welcome to come help countdown to get the season started.
