5 Things to Know: July 31st

The last day of July will bring a shift in the weather and some big events around Babylon.

1. You won't be sure if it is summer throughout the morning – highs are expected to only be around 76° for Babylon Village throughout the day. The weather will turn soggy again, though, with the increased possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon, especially after 3:00 p.m. Bring the umbrella where ever you go – these storms can be quick and heavy!

2. Give the kids an unforgetable adventure with the  at Cedar Beach Marina! Campers ages 6-12 will explore Long Island’s marine habitats on the beautiful south shore beaches in Babylon. Unique specialized sessions for ages 6-8 and for 9-12 offered by Cornell educators. US Coast Guard visits campers to teach marine safety and protecting the waters from pollution. Each week costs $225 and starts at 9:00 a.m.

3. Sen. Owen Johnson will sponsor a  starting at 11:30 a.m. in the Babylon Public Library. Representatives will discuss topics such as elder law, long term care, federal-state programs, estate planning, veteran's benefits and more.

4. You'll never hate making your bed again – head over to the West Babylon Public Library to learn how to make  with their baking coach. Whether its unmade or tucked in, the cupcakes are a tasty treat for all. The event kicks off at 7:00 p.m.

5. A public meeting for the discussion of  into parts of Deer Park, North Babylon and West Babylon will be held at Town of Babylon Town Hall Annex Auditorium in North Babylon at 7:00 p.m.
