W. Babylon Resident Named Good Sam’s Employee of the Month

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center’s Lauren Gentz was named Samaritan of the Month for July.

Gentz, a West Babylon resident, joined Good Samaritan in 2002 as a coder for Medical Records and transferred to Cancer Registrar in 2005. Cancer registrars play a pivotal role by capturing data used by researchers and medical professionals who are seeking to advance cancer prevention programs and treatment.

In addition, Gentz assists in organizing Good Samaritan’s Annual Cancer Survivors Day which honors more than 300 survivors. She is an ardent supporter of the event which celebrates the enjoyment of life. She resides in West Babylon.

Since 1999, Good Samaritan Hospital has recognized exemplary employees that consistently go above and beyond their assigned duties and live by the hospital mission to promote excellence in care and commit to those in need.

Nominations are submitted for review to a committee from co-workers, supervisors and patients. Samaritans are surprised in their department with a bouquet of flowers. A Samaritan of the Month presentation is held at the hospital with their co-workers and family.
