Richard Cronk, Sr, Retired Suffolk County Officer, Passes Away

Retired lieutenant was also a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Richard Cronk, Sr., a former Babylon Village resident, passed away on December 13 in Florida.

Cronk was 83 years old.

Cronk was born in Jamaica, New York and later moved to Babylon as an adult. He worked as a police officer with the Suffolk County Police Department, retiring as a lieutenant.

He also served in the United States Air Force in the Korean War.

He was the past president of the Suffolk Superior Officers Association on Long Island, N.Y., and a member of the International Association of Police Chiefs.

He is survived by his second wife, Marguerite Cronk, and children Richard, Wayne, Scott and Brian, his brother Robert and a stepson, Richard.

A service of remembrance will be held at Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory in Inverness, Florida on Wednesday, December 18.
