Help West Babylon Resident and Disability Rights Advocate Emily Ladau Conquer Independence and Win A Wheelchair Accessible Van
Emily Ladau was born with a genetic physical disability called Larsen syndrome, and has dedicated her life to advocating for the rights of the disabled. Her career began at the age of 10, when she appeared on several episodes of Sesame Street to educate children about living with a disability. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in English from Adelphi University, and since graduating, has been both employed and volunteering with multiple organizations. Her work is focused on fostering employment opportunities and developing resources for the disability community, as well as encouraging people with all types of disabilities to develop their inner voice for advocacy.
Currently, Emily works from home, but her goal is to conquer independence so that she can continue to pursue her passion for advocacy. She recently got her driver's license, but doesn't have an adapted vehicle that she can drive. Since a wheelchair accessible vehicle can cost around $70,000, Emily has entered a contest hosted by the National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association to win a van. This would be a huge financial relief for her family and would provide her the opportunity to achieve her dream of living independently with a disability.
Please take a moment to make Emily's dream of independence a reality by voting for her to win a custom adapted van and sharing with your friends! You can vote daily, and will even get an extra vote by answering a simple trivia question. It's quick, easy, and could change Emily's life forever.
