$25K Reward for Info on Gilgo Serial Killings

The Crime Stoppers program is offering the most money ever for information leading to an arrest in the murders of four young women.

Police are upping the reward for information leading to an arrest in the serial killings related to Gilgo Beach.

The Crime Stoppers program initially offered $5,000, and now the reward stands at $25,000 — the largest amount ever in the program’s history.

Suffolk Police and the program’s leader hope the bigger incentive will ignite new leads and tips for solving the murder of four young women found along Ocean Parkway earlier this year.

“We believe there is information out there that could aid the police department in solving this case,” Crime Stoppers Board President Nick Amarr said in a press release issued today. “We are hoping this will give someone incentive to come forward.”

The seven-month investigation into the remains of four women has not led to a person of interest or any related arrest. Since Suffolk Police found the first set of remains on Dec. 11, beach searches by Suffolk, Nassau and State Police teams have uncovered eight sets of remains. The first four females were identified in late January and one of the four last sets was determined to be Jessica Taylor whose body parts were found in Manorville in 2003.

Family members of the female victims held a vigil at the beach site last weekend to help keep media attention on the case.

Suffolk Police believe the reward effort could prove valuable given similar efforts that have led to details that resulted in solving crimes.

“The Crime Stoppers program is an important tool for police in furthering their investigations,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer said in a statement. “The combined efforts of the Crime Stoppers board and public support have brought successful conclusions to hundreds of Suffolk County cases. I am hopeful that the increased reward will provide critical information to help bring those responsible to justice.”

According to police, private donations are funding the $25,000 Crime Stoppers Major Case Special Situation Award.

Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220 TIPS, or text “SCPD” and your message to CRIMES (274637), or visit tipsubmit.com. All calls will be kept confidential.
