Arrest Made in Thurs. Fire at JFK Elementary

Teenager charged with arson after setting fire on school's field.

Suffolk County Police have made an arrest in a fire set yesterday afternoon at John F. Kennedy Elementary School in West Babylon.

According to NewsLI.com, a 16-year old boy was arrested for setting a blaze on the school's playground. Luckily, the blaze was contained and extinguished by the West Babylon Fire Department, located down the street, within a short time.

The boy, whose name was not released, is being charged with Arson in the fifth degree and criminal mischief.

Many residents reported seeing the billowing tower of dark, black smoke rising over West Babylon yesterday to Patch.com as the fire erupted.

According to police, no one was injured in the blaze.
