Babylon Woman Hit by a Car Critically Injured

Cerice Caprio, 32, was attempting to walk across Deer Park Avenue at time of the crash, police say.

A Babylon woman was critically injured after being hit by a car while crossing Deer Park Avenue in North Babylon Monday night, police said. 

According to police, Cerice Caprio, 32, was attempting to walk across the road in front of Buffalo Wild Wings, just north of the Southern State Parkway, at 9:06 p.m. when she was struck by a 2008 Hyundai Elantra that was heading southbound on Deer Park Avenue. 

Caprio was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Bloom, 47, of Levittown, was not injured in the crash, police said.

The Elantra was impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. No charges have been filed against Bloom. Police did not say where Caprio was headed or coming from at the time of the accident. 

Police  are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
