First Precinct Police Officers Robert DeSanto and Anthony Cerasuolo responded to the parking lot of Sal’s Fruit Tree, located at 1200 Sunrise Highway in Copiague, after a 911 caller reported a woman passed out in a vehicle on February 17, according to police.

When the officers arrived, according to police, the woman had a pulse, but wasn't breathing.

DeSanto began rescue breathing while Cerasuolo administered a dose of intranasal Narcan, said police, and the woman regained consciousness.

The woman, 25, was transported via North Amityville Fire Company ambulance to Saint Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, police said.

The Suffolk County Police Department is participating in the New York State Department of Health pilot program involving the deployment of intranasal Narcan, a prescription drug used to reverse opiate overdoses.

Currently the program is being used by officers in all Suffolk County Police precincts, Marine Bureau and the Emergency Service Section, police noted.

• Driving instructor killed in crash

Suffolk County Police are investigating a crash that killed a Manorville man in Port Jefferson Station this past Monday.

According to police, Leonard Sloan was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu, owned by Fitzgerald’s Driving School of North Babylon, westbound on Nesconset Highway when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and crossed over onto oncoming traffic.

The Malibu struck three vehicles in the eastbound turning lane that were waiting to turn left onto Davis Avenue. Detectives believe that Sloan, a driving instructor who did not have any passengers in the vehicle, may have had a medical event prior to the crash.

Sloan, 59, of Manorville, was transported to St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson by Terryville Rescue where he was pronounced dead. None of the other drivers were injured.

Marquez was discovered lying in the street by a passerby who called 911. He was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives are investigating the crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information about the suspect vehicle to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
