Crimes Nearby: Man Driving With Three Kids Charged With DWI

Crimes across the region as reported by Suffolk County Police.

A Bronx man driving with three children and four adult passengers in his vehicle was arrested this past week and charged with driving while intoxicated, Suffolk County Police said. 

According to police, Ernesto Lezama, 42, was driving a 2001 Dodge north on Mill Road near Skips Road in Coram when he was seen by police driving his vehicle erratically and crossing over the double yellow line in the center of the road. 

Police said that Lezama was driving while intoxicated and placed him under arrest. He was charged with three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law) and one count of Driving While Intoxicated. 

He was arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 27. The children were released to the custody of family members.   
Bagel Shop Burglar Sought 

Suffolk County Police are looking to locate the person they said broke into a bagel shop in Nesconset.   

According to police, an unknown male smashed the side glass door of the Bagel Cafe located at 248 Smithtown Boulevard and entered the store. Once inside, he pried open an office door and removed a large amount of cash. The incident happened on May 27 at 12:30 a.m. 

Police said the suspect exited through the rear door and fled on a blue or purple small-framed mountain bike. He was wearing a black coat, black gloves and a black backpack. There was a wooden handle sticking out of the backpack.   

Police Searching For High-end Watch Thief 

Suffolk County Police are looking to indentify and located a man who police said stole watches from a South Huntington store. 

According to police, on May 19 a man entered Tourneau, located at 160 Walt Whitman Road, and stole two Rolex Yacht-Master men’s watches, valued at more than $36,000. The man asked to see the watches, tried them on and fled the store without paying. 

Police describe the man as black, in his early 30s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, clean-shaven with short black hair. He was wearing a lime green shirt with a green tie, dark-colored jacket and beige pants.   

Women Attempted To Use Fake ID

Suffolk County Police are looking to locate a woman who they said attempted to cash a fraudulent check using fake identification at an Elwood bank. 

According to police, a woman entered the Citibank, at 710 Larkfield Road, and handed the teller a fraudulent check for $3,500 and a fake Maryland driver’s license on April 19 at 5 p.m. When the teller questioned the woman about the license and check, the woman exited the bank and fled the parking lot in a dark-colored, full size SUV. 

Police describe the woman as black, between 30 and 40 years old and heavy set. Similar incidents have been reported at other Citibank locations in Suffolk County. The woman left the fake driver’s license at the bank.
