Family reportedly makes it out of home safely as flames erupted.

A West Babylon family is reportedly safe after a fire ripped through their home right before noon on Sunday.

A fire ripped through a home at 50 Beaver Lane in West Babylon earlier Sunday, reportedly starting just before 12 p.m., causing heavy damage to the south side of the home.

Flames flew from the home as fire department crews arrived on the scene from the West Babylon Fire Department. The firefighters were aided by crews from North Babylon.

According to a few emergency officials on the scene, the family at the home were reportedly safe following the fire. Officials also reported no serious injuries to the emergency responders at the scene.

The cause of the fire was unknown, but flames shot up from an area near the utility cables on the home and most the heavy damage was seen near the place those wires were attached.

As of 1 p.m., the fire was placed under control and almost all smoke was extinguished.
