Icy Conditions Play Factor in Fatal West Babylon Crash

A woman is killed after her car collides with another vehicle that went off Sunrise Highway due to roadway ice.

A woman was killed on Sunrise Highway, near Hubbard’s Path in West Babylon, early Sunday morning after two motorists hit icy patches on the roadway, police said.

Suffolk County police say Adalid Trejo, a 37-year-old Brentwood man, lost control of his 2006 Toyota Tacoma around 6:15 a.m. while driving in the westbound lane when his car hit a patch of ice and then struck the guardrail.

Trejo left his vehicle to check the damage and shortly after his car was hit by a 2008 Honda Civic driven by Riverhead resident Susan Galligan, 54, who police say also lost control of her car due to icy conditions.
