Man Hit by Car While Crossing Main Street New Year's Eve

Police are investigating the incident which sent the victim to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A pedestrian crossing Main Street in Babylon Village was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle New Year’s Eve around 10 p.m. and is recovering at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with non-life-threatening head trauma, according to police.

Suffolk Police First Squad detectives are investigating the incident that involved a 1999 Mercury heading westbound on East Main Street, west of Route 231. The car struck 24-year-old Sean Lapersonerie, of Copiague, as he attempted to cross Main Street from the south side to the north side.

The driver, Babylon resident Paul Delmonico, 45, was not injured in the incident and no charges have been filed as of press time, according to police.
