Man Rushed to Hospital After Fall From W. Babylon Overpass

Man airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital following fall.

A man was rushed to a local hospital on Tuesday morning after he reportedly fell from an overpass on Belmont Avenue onto the Southern State Parkway.

According to Newsday, Suffolk County Police said a man fell from the Belmont Avenue overpass onto the Southern State Parkway below at around 10:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Police gave the newspaper few details, but reported the man was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County Police's Aviation Unit.

A 911 call was placed reporting a man who had fallen onto the Southern State Parkway's westbound lanes at exit 37, Belmont Avenue, at around 10:13 a.m.

Traffic was temporarily suspended in the area before being reopened at 10:49 a.m., according to the Department of Transportation.

There was no report on the man's identity or condition.
