UPDATE: Man Seriously Injured in W. Babylon Shooting

Victim airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center following Wednesday evening incident.

Update (9/27/12 - 12:30 a.m.) – Police have identified the shooting victim as Malik Taylor, 19, of 70 Centerwood St., West Babylon.

Taylor was standing in the street outside of his home at about 6:35 p.m. when he was shot three times by an unknown man in a passing vehicle.  The shooter was allegedly sitting in the passenger seat of an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. 

Taylor, who was shot in the abdomen and leg, was transported by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is currently listed in serious condition.

Suffolk Police are still on the search for the shooter and ask anyone with information to contact the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Original Story: An early evening shooting in West Babylon has left one man in serious condition, according to Suffolk County Police.

Authorities told Patch that a man in his 20s was shot three times outside of 70 Centerwood Street in West Babylon. The shooting took place around 6:35 p.m. Wednesday and police did not identify the victim.

Police said the man was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center in serious condition.
