Police: Babylon Man Facing DWI Charges In Crash That Killed Teen

Authorities say vehicle driven by Michael Grasing rear-ended second vehicle, causing it to flip and strike utility pole.

A Babylon man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in connection to a in Lindenhurst that killed a teenager, police said.

According to police, Michael Grasing, 31, was driving a 2004 Nissan westbound on Montauk Highway near Buena Vista Boulevard when he allegedly struck the back of another vehicle that was also travelling westbound, causing the second vehicle to overturn and strike a utility pole.

The operator of the second vehicle, Lindenhurst resident Brittney Walsh, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene. A police source told Patch that Walsh was a Copiague High School student who lived in Lindenhurst.

Grasing was charged by police with Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for treatment of minor injuries. He will be arraigned on a future date at First District Court in Central Islip.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
