UPDATE: Police Investigating Village Hall Burglary

Burglars hit the village administration building in early September.

A burglar or burglary team hit Babylon Village Hall on September 10 but few details about the incident are being released as police continue the investigation.

Suffolk Police confirmed the burglary took place on that date but declined to offer up any information citing the active investigation.

"A burglary investigation is ongoing and avenues of investigation are being pursued at this time," stated the police. The First Squad Detectives, led by D/Lt. Robert Edwards, is in charge of the investigation.

A published report, that did not cite a specific police source, stated that $10,000 in cash and coins was taken in an early evening burglary. Suffolk Police would not confirm that report.

Babylon Village Mayor Ralph Scordino declined to discuss the incident citing the ongoing investigation and said the village is working with police on the case.
