Trains Searched At Babylon Station After West Islip Bank Robbery

A bank robbery in West Islip Tuesday morning led to police converging on the Babylon Long Island Rail Road station following a report that a cab had driven the bank robber to the station.

LIRR spokesman Sal Arena told Patch that Suffolk Police notified the MTA Police following the robbery shortly before 10 a.m.

MTA Police searched the Babylon station and three trains that the robber could have possibly boarded, but didn't turn up anything, Arena said.

Several trains were delayed and one westbound train was canceled during the MTA Police investigation, Arena said.
