Police: Precinct Community Meeting Cancelled Due to Snow

Precinct will hold its next meeting for our area in February.

The Suffolk County Police Department has cancelled tonight's First Precinct Community Meeting due to the inclement weather expected to strike Long Island.

"Due to the impending snow storm, tonight's First Precinct Community Meeting originally scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the West Babylon Public Library has been canceled," police wrote in a statement emailed to the community.

The area is currently bracing itself for the arrival of the first winter storm of the year, nicknamed "Hercules" by The Weather Channel. Meteorologists have forecast blizzard conditions to make travel on Long Island very hard.

The monthly meetings allow residents to voice concerns about their neighborhoods on a more personal level with police officers.

The department does not reschedule meetings that have been cancelled and will instead hold the next meeting as planned on February 6 at 7 p.m. at the West Babylon Public Library.

Residents are encouraged to contact First Precinct Secretary at 854-8103 or the Precinct Front Desk at 854-8100 to confirm if meetings in the future are still scheduled to take place due to weather concerns.
