Police Seeking Driver Who Fled After Passenger Fell Out of Vehicle

Thomas Hendricks, 20, of Farmingdale, died after falling out of the moving vehicle last month.

Police are asking for the public's help to track down the person who was the behind the wheel when a passenger fell out a vehicle in West Babylon last month and died from his injuries. 

Police say the driver fled the scene after Thomas Hendricks, 20, was seen falling out of a light-colored Ford Explorer that was traveling northbound on Belmont Avenue, at the exit ramp to westbound Southern State Parkway, in West Babylon on Nov. 10 around 10:10 p.m.

Hendricks died two days later at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Witnesses told police that Hendricks was picked up by someone driving a Ford Explorer on Route 110 near the Southern State Parkway, about 20 minutes before he fell out of the vehicle.

Hendricks frequented the Cloverdale Apartments, located at 3547 Great Neck Road in North Amityville, and was seen there on the day of the accident, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
