Police: W. Babylon Man Drove Wrong Way on Sunrise, Charged With DWI

Charles Falco, 50, faces multiple charges after arrest early Sunday morning.

A West Babylon was arrested early Sunday morning after police say he drove the wrong way on Sunrise Highway in Oakdale while drunk. 

Charles Falco, 50, was spotted driving a gray 2009 Pontiac G6 eastbound in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway west of Connetquot Avenue in Islip Terrace shortly after midnight, police said. 

Suffolk County Highway Patrol Officer Ricardo Pigatti followed Falco's car for more than a mile before he was able to stop Falco around 12:15 a.m. near Oakdale-Bohemia Road, police said.

Falco was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, second degree reckless endangerment and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Falco was also issued two summonses for driving the wrong way and failure to comply.

Falco was held overnight at the Third Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
