School Notebook: Figoski Game, Librarian Position, and Anonymous Gift

This week's news and notes from the Babylon School district.

Monday night Babylon held a public hearing on the adopted 2012-2013 . The is next Tuesday, from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. For detailed information on the budget, visit the district's detailed budget information page.

The district's website has a new look: http://www.babylon.k12.ny.us/ has been redesigned although the content is the same.

Interim Superintendent Peter Daly reported that the Peter J. Figoski Memorial Softball Game was a success. The Babylon Little League event, sponsored by the Babylon Lions Club, raised money for a scholarship fund in memory of the . The team won against Southampton, and Patch will bring you a highlights video from MSG Varsity Sports when it comes out. The two students who received $750 scholarships each were: Daniel McHugh and Jessica Sasuk.

On June 9th at 11 a.m. at the Babylon Junior-Senior High School, seven new members of the Wall of Fame will be inducted. The inductees ranged from players who graduated in 1957 through 1998.

An update on the grade school librarian staffing issue: although the disctrict is not replacing the , Superintendent Daly said they will continue to offer the same level of library services. The district will use a combination of a part-time librarian and rotating librarians between buildings to cover the job duties.

An anonymous donor has gifted a new batting cage and installation to the Babylon Memorial Grade School. The donation is valued at $4,500.
