The Police Blotter: June 27th through July 3rd

As the holiday approaches, crimes involving vehicles went way up including a DWI and unauthorized use of a car.

The following information is taken directly from the Suffolk County Police Department's Media Incidents list regarding arrests and incidents. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges as noted.

June 27th, 2012

Ronald Lambe (reisdency not available) was arrested in Babylon for unlawful selling of alcohol to a child in the first degree.

Paul Bernard from Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for menacing in the second degree.

June 28th, 2012

Tyrone Webb Frazier from Wyandanch was arrested in Babylon for unlawful possession of marijuana.

William Plaza from Wappinger Falls was arrested in West Babylon for reckless endangerment of property.

Andrew Vanbourgondien (residency not available) was arrested in West Babylon for unlawfully fleeing an officer.

Alniesha Singleton from Center Moriches was arrested in West Babylon for petit larceny.

Lisa Irvine from Farmingdale was arrested in West Babylon for operator leaving the scene of property.

Diogenes Nunez from Copiague was arrested in West Babylon for criminal mischief: intent to damage property.

James Plansker from West Islip was arrested in West Babylon for operator leaving the scene of property.

June 29, 2012

Daniel Vancott from Ronkonkama was arrested in West Babylon for burlgary in a dwelling and causing injury.

Derek Tanya from Valley Stream was arrested in West Babylon for criminal contempt in the first degree.

Jonathan Rodriguez from Lindenhurst was arrested in West Babylon for criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.

June 30th, 2012

Kashana Christopher from Deer Park was arrested in West Babylon for aggrivated harassment in the second degree.

Evita Langion from West Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for criminal contempt in the second degree.

July 1st, 2012

Gary Pavikowski from Lindenhurst was arrested in Babylon for operating a vessel while intoxicated in the first and second degrees.

July 2nd, 2012

Kenneth Boos from West Islip was arrested in Babylon for Driving While Intoxicated – drugs/alcohol combination and criminal trespassing in the third degree.

William Urban from Bay Shore was arrested in Babylon for criminal trespassing in the third degree.

Nicholas Mannino from Bay Shore was arrested in Babylon for petit larceny.

Christopher Cresson from North Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for operator leaves scene of property.

Michael Witkovsky from West Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for harrassment in the second degree.

Adrian Ahmetaj from Deer Park was arrested in West Babylon for unauthorized use of a vehicle without owner's consent.

Frank Corsetti Jr. from West Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for criminal posession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.

July 3rd, 2012

Andrew Puetz from Babylon was arrested in Babylon for loitering unlawfully using a controlled substance and criminal impersonation in the second degree.

As I explained, my post was made on behalf of another village resident. However, I did take theRead More time to read the statute and do have an independent viewpoint on this subject. While I do not feel that all dogs require a muzzle at all times, if you have a dog that you know to be a threat to other dogs or humans, you would have a duty to take measures to eliminate that threat before bring that dog into public. If that measure is a muzzle, then that's what must be done. As my post indicated, I believe strict enforcement would be exceedingly difficult and, perhaps, unnecessary (at least with respect to the muzzle requirement). However, a total lack of enforcement is dangerous and unacceptable. I think a little common sense goes a long way and I have confidence that those charged with enforcing the Village code could do so selectively. I understand that selective enforcement may be a concept that many feel uncomfortable with. However, just because the law requires a muzzle, that is hardly a reason to disregard it in its entirety and allow dogs with vicious propensities to roam around unleashed. I will leave it up to Village lawmakers to remove the muzzle requirement (and suggest that they do so) if that is what it would take to make people comfortable with the leash requirement.
