The Police Blotter: November 3rd through November 14th

A busy two weeks for the Suffolk County PD First Precinct include weapons and criminal sex acts charges.

The following information is taken directly from the Suffolk County Police Department's Media Incidents list regarding arrests and incidents. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime, but were arrested for the charges as noted.

Arrests

November 3rd, 2012

Eric Martinez from West Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree: with a Firearm.

November 4th, 2012

Joseph Reinertsen from West Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for Criminal Possession of Weapon in the Second Degree: Loaded Firearm.

November 5th, 2012

Antron McCloud from Wyandanch was arrested in West Babylon for six counts of Burglary in the Third Degree.

November 6th, 2012

Robert Ernst from West Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for Breaking Emergency Orders by Chief Executive (Curfew).

November 8th, 2012

Jorge Barreiro from West Babylon was arrested in West Babylon for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree valued over $1,000.

November 11th, 2012

David Catalano from Babylon Village was arrested in Babylon Village for Criminal Possesion of a Weapon in the Second Degree: Loaded Firearm.

Eric Rodriguez from East Islip was arrested in West Babylon for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree: Stolen Credit Card.

November 12th, 2012

Shane McCrady from unknown area was arrested for Burglary in the Second Degree: Dwelling.

November 13th, 2012

James Thanhauser from Mastic Beach was arrested in Babylon for Rape-3: Victim less than 17 years old, Accused older than 21 years old.

Dimitris Dallaris from Babylon Village was arrested in Babylon Village for Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree.

November 14th, 2012

Joseph Presswood from Wyandanch was arrested in West Babylon for Burglary in the Second Degree: Dwelling.

As I explained, my post was made on behalf of another village resident. However, I did take theRead More time to read the statute and do have an independent viewpoint on this subject. While I do not feel that all dogs require a muzzle at all times, if you have a dog that you know to be a threat to other dogs or humans, you would have a duty to take measures to eliminate that threat before bring that dog into public. If that measure is a muzzle, then that's what must be done. As my post indicated, I believe strict enforcement would be exceedingly difficult and, perhaps, unnecessary (at least with respect to the muzzle requirement). However, a total lack of enforcement is dangerous and unacceptable. I think a little common sense goes a long way and I have confidence that those charged with enforcing the Village code could do so selectively. I understand that selective enforcement may be a concept that many feel uncomfortable with. However, just because the law requires a muzzle, that is hardly a reason to disregard it in its entirety and allow dogs with vicious propensities to roam around unleashed. I will leave it up to Village lawmakers to remove the muzzle requirement (and suggest that they do so) if that is what it would take to make people comfortable with the leash requirement.
