UPDATE: Stolen Veterans Charity Trailer Found

Trailer is found in North Bellport Monday morning.

UPDATE- 7:15 a.m. Monday:

The trailer has been found. Frank Bania shared the news in an email, "The Boots on the Ground NY trailer was found in North Bellport early this morning, just got off phone with police, thank you to everyone for keeping your eyes open and sharing the story!"

Police told Bania the trailer was empty when it was found. Bania said there were some tools, moving equipment and new American flags inside the trailer when it was stolen.

"Thank God we didn't have it loaded yet for deliveries on Sunday," Bania told Patch.

Original story:

A trailer used for delivering food, mattresses and furniture to veterans in need has been stolen from the Ronkonkoma headquarters of Boots on the Ground NY.

The nonprofit group, which is run by volunteers, posted the news on its Facebook page Sunday morning.

The Car-Mate 2007 black enclosed trailer was stolen sometime between 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m Sunday from the Veteran Activity Center at 2184 Pond Road in Ronkonkoma. The trailer is 18-20 feet long and about seven-feet high. The trailer has a diamond plate border around the entire trailer and the back door is lettered with the Boots on the Ground logo on the drop down door. The plate number is AT-54774.

The trailer had been donated to the organization by American Bikers Aimed Toward Education and Christian Haerter, the father of Marine Lance Cpl. Jordan C. Haerter, a 19-year-old from Sag Harbor who was killed in action in Iraq in 2008.

The trailer has been reported stolen to Suffolk police. If you have any information on its whereabouts, call Frank Bania, the president of Boots on the Ground NY, at 631-294-5248.

If our veterans are so valued why does our own government cut their benefits and classify them as terrorists?

I get your point Skip, but still don't appreciate your warped sense of humor
