Update: Babylon Bank Robber Suspected in Brightwaters Chase Robbery

Increase in local bank robberies most likely fluke, Suffolk Police Department says, after another nearby bank hit.

Although one local bank, the West Babylon Roslyn Savings Bank, has been robbed three times this year alone, and two more local robberies have made the news in recent weeks, overall bank robberies in Suffolk are down this year, according to the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD).

Babylon Village Patch that People's United bank in Babylon was targeted two weeks ago, and a similar suspect also robbed Chase bank in Brightwaters on April 4. Police reported that the woman entered the bank, located at 169 Orinoco Drive, at 11:48 a.m. and handed the teller a note demanding cash. The teller complied and gave the robber cash from the drawer and the woman fled on foot. 

According to SCPD Lieutenant Fitzpatrick, the police have not confirmed that the suspect is the same person, but the investigation is proceeding assuming that it was a repeat crime.

On March 31, bank, the bank that was robbed in February.

No arrests have been made so far in any of the three incidents.

The Roslyn Savings Bank robber is described by police as a 5 feet 8 inches tall white male in his 20s, with a thin build, brown hair and a chin strap beard. He was wearing a red baseball hat, dark sunglasses, a white hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.

The Babylon and Brightwaters bank robber, a female, is described as as a white female in her 40s with brown hair, a medium build and approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall. She was wearing a Mets baseball cap, dark sunglasses, a light blue zip-up sweatshirt and jeans.
